ANCESTRAL SKILLS WORKSHOPS: Natural Dyeing & Spinning

2 PART WORKSHOP

Create your own hand dyed yarn from scratch

10/05:

• Introduction to the beauty of fiber & the importance of ancestral crafts as spiritual practice
• Prepping fiber by mordanting – this helps the fiber take up the dye
• Dyeing your fleece/fiber – learn about natural plant-based dyes and treat your fiber with two different dyes
• Introduction to spinning

17/05:

• Introduction to carding (aligning fibers, like combing) 
• Spinning your fiber into yarn, different types of spindles and the spinning wheel
• Plying, function and aesthetic of twisting yarn together

Both sessions 1.30-3.30pm | £80 | 4 spaces.

Please bring a notebook, pen, rubber gloves and apron/old clothes.

Accessible entrance and toilet. Parking just over the road.
